Need help high-tech for 1983 Yamaha Virago 920?
I just bought this a Yamaha Virago 920, is my first bike, I have no manual and need help with simple maintenance questions. It has an oil leak, startup sounds bad, has no rod (How to check the oil level?) What type of oil I use, does it require higher octane fuel, the location of oil plug? There are other peculiarities or problems with this model that should know or be careful not?
Noise – Bad starter clutch components – common problem with Virago. Oil leak – clean the engine with "Gunk degreaser motor "- sprinkle some white baby powder in the area of the disappearance of suspects and run the bike – Baby powder discolor at the site of the leak. Search oil level – below the oil filler cap is the "oil level sight glass" start and run the bike for a few minutes to circulate the oil in throughout the turn the engine off the engine and let it sit for several minutes to allow oil to drain into the crankcase. Check the oil level with the bike up and down (as if you were sitting on it). The oil level should cover 3 / 4 of the oil level sight glass. job quality, brand motor oil 4 stroke – 10W40 in cold weather, or 20w50 in warm climates. I deliver greater performance with premium gas. Experiment to see what works best. Exhausted engines require different octane of other bicycles.
