With the high cost of gas I've spent the last month to seek alternative transport. With the electric scooter as much attention to local and national level have not only investigated but I talked to local distributors in my effort to determine whether it's worth the investment. Since the Vectrix Maxi has received the most coverage of the media that have focused this article on this particular machine. It is my opinion, the Vectrix is not worth the price, at least not now.
In my state are considered a motorcycle and must be treated as such. The same laws that apply to all drivers of motorcycles in the motorcycle endorsement is, state licensing and registration, insurance, so applies to scooters. This is a good thing, because these vehicles are designed for use in normal traffic and public roads. As sales motorcycles have increased a problem with the approval of driver's license has come to light. Scooters by their very nature and size are much more maneuverable during one motorcycle driving test larger less maneuverable. This makes receiving a motorcycle endorsement easier. People who have no experience with motorcycles sometimes believe, because they have the backing, they can simply go into a bigger Harley, Honda, or any other motorcycle and will be the same experience. Reviewing the site Vectrix official discovered the truth can not be the same as all the hype I have read and been told by the dealer. A local dealer told me I could achieve 50 miles on a single charge of 62 miles per hour. He said that the hills and mountainous terrain would have no effect on the range or speed. It also led me to believe the guarantee battery was 10 years. Here are the facts of the Vectrix:
