This is no big fancy bike, but do not let you down. I bought my CMX 250 Rebel after my bike accident, due to its light weight, forward pegs which reduced the bend in the knee unreliable, and that was for sale at a price of cracking.
The bike was delivered to me and I took the thing for a walk, for the first time in 7 months. I was scared and nervous … for about 3 minutes and then everything began to fall back into place again. I remembered why I liked doing this, what it meant to me and why should I risk everything again.
I had some understanding of what to expect in the engine, having owned a CD200 "Benly" where the engine is derived from 250 CMX. It is a small and compact motor with 2 pistons up and down together, and only 1 carburetor. View 1 carburetor is unusual for a twin, and reduces the power available, but in return you do not need to balance carbohydrates, and great fuel economy. I could return 90mpg while to 2 with camping equipment, 97mpg was the best I've achieved. The engine is pretty noisy, not too fast and not very powerful. However, it is soft, solid and feels like it will take forever … slowly. But this bike was never intended to establish the way in the Fire, is a cruise to cruise. You can not get the engine running slow, so you can, but you can only do 20 mph.
It is difficult to comment on its comfort, because I was still comfortable ever since my accident or bicycle. That said I was no worse in the bike so I guess you can not have been so bad. I did not do long distances, but it could take an afternoon with the FG and not suffer later. 2 until the bike was fine, a little less power but remains stable and easy to assemble. I would suggest to regulate pillioning a "sissy bar" of some kind would be necessary. The relaxed position of the rider causes the passenger to lean back, which means they have a crisis of your stomach muscles to avoid falling backwards. Could be useful if the belly of the passenger is getting weak …
